The Call for Presentations submission process for IISC's 67th Annual Professional Development Conference & Expo is now open! Proposals must be submitted no later than August 23, 2019. 

The Iowa-Illinois Safety Council (IISC) is seeking dynamic presentations for our 2020 Professional Development Conference & Expo (PDC). IISC's Annual Professional Development Conference and Expo brings together over 500 Safety, Health, and Environmental professionals from Illinois, Iowa, and surrounding states. IISC's Professional Development Conference is unique to Illinois and Iowa and continues to meet the needs of SHE professionals.

Education is the focal point with over 40 sessions providing the very best educational opportunity in Illinois and Iowa in relation to safety, health, and environmental topics - Occupational S&H Tracks, Workers' Comp Track, and Environmental Track. In addition, networking opportunities are unmatched in the Illinois-Iowa region and the expo portion of IISC's PDC brings you the best of the best vendors with new ideas, resources, and technology.

We are soliciting presentations 4 & 8 hour Technical Sessions on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 and break-out sessions during Thursday and Friday, April 23-24, 2020. 

4 or 8 Hour Technical Session Presentation Format

Technical sessions will be held on April 22 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Presentation slots are approximately 4 or 8 hours long, including time for questions. Presentations need to include some sort of activity or hands on learning in order to help facilitate adult learning. Any pertinent equipment and or real life examples are encouraged to give participants as much interaction as possible.

BREAK-OUT PRESENTATION FORMAT

Break-out presentations will be held April 23  between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm and April 24 between the hours of 9:30 am and 12 pm approximately.

Presentation slots are approximately 60 minutes long, including time for questions. Presentations requiring more than one consecutive time slot will be considered on a limited basis at the discretion of IISC. Please identify this in the description section of your application.

Presentations can be in any one of the following formats:
  • Traditional Presentation:
    Focused on a single topic or program; includes a talk followed by a short discussion.
  • Roundtable Discussion:
    Informal presentation that emphasizes discussion between the presenter(s) and session attendees. Presenters start the discussion with a short presentation of information, followed by an open discussion for input and exchange of ideas.
  • Panel Discussion:
    Allows for a short opening statement from panel members presenting different perspectives on a topic or question, followed by an open discussion directed either by session attendees or a list of pre-set questions.
Presentations can cover a wide variety of safety and health topics, from technical/regulatory issues, safety leadership, safety culture, to new emerging best practices. You can share something from the following list or submit another topic that you would like to share.

HOW TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL

1. ALL proposals must be submitted using the Call for Presentation Form
2. Submit your proposal no later than August 23, 2019.

PROPOSAL REVIEW AND NOTIFICATION

Proposals will be reviewed by the Iowa-Illinois Safety Council Executive Director and PDC committee.

Applicants will be notified of their proposal status by September 21, 2019.
