Industrial Hygiene Monitoring

The Iowa-Illinois Safety Council's training department can conduct Industrial Hygiene Monitoring at your facility or job site.

Industrial hygiene has been defined as "that science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace, which may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort among workers or among the citizens of the community."

We use environmental monitoring and analytical methods to detect the extent of worker exposures and recommend engineering, work practice controls, and other methods to control potential health hazards.

Monitoring Suggestions:

  • Noise mapping of your facility or job site
  • Noise monitoring
  • Silica monitoring
  • Nuisance dust monitoring
  • Ergonomics evaluations - this is an industrial hygiene issue, and needs to be addressed through ergonomic assessments to ensure a safe work environment
