This four hour young driver intervention program is geared toward drivers between ages 15 and 24. Course helps participants explore why young drivers often underestimate risks, addresses the effects of inexperience, peer pressure, and distractions such as cell phones and text messaging. Curriculum defines State and local driving laws and regulations, help students develop communication skills. Responsibility of passengers, consequences of speeding, seat belt use, safe driving distances and dangers of driving impaired is also discussed during course. 

Materials and instruction for seminars presented by IISC are provided in English. All attendees must be able to understand the information as provided. Non-English speaking attendees may provide their own interpreters to insure comprehension of the course content. Interpreters may assist the participant with testing and skills practice as necessary. Interpreters will not be charged for attending unless they require a certificate of completion for the seminar. The presenter is required to ensure that participants understand the course contents prior to awarding completion documentation.

Class Policies:

 This is a live instructor training using the Zoom platform. 

  • Attending virtually requires the use of a computer/laptop with a camera and microphone.  
  • Passing the course requires the student to be engaged, answer questions, have their camera and microphone on at all times and pass the exam at the end of the class. Instructors are given the discretion to give the students a passing or non-completion of the class.
  • The link to the zoom meeting will be sent to the email address listed in the student information listed below a few days before the class.  Please make sure the student is familiar with the zoom platform before the class so there are no issues the morning of the class. 
  • Joining the class late may result in the student needing to reschedule to a future class date.

Workbooks will be mailed to the student a week before the class.

If you are taking this course to satisfy an Iowa Department of Transportation requirement, IISC will alert the Iowa DOT of your course registration and completion status.
