COVID-19 -- How IISC is Responding
The Iowa-Illinois Safety Council (IISC) takes the safety and wellness of our community seriously and will comply with health department recommendations for pandemic preparedness. We are participating in a variety of protective measures to help slow the spread and impact of COVID-19. Our staff are taking extra steps recommended by our local Health Department and CDC to slow the spread of COVID-19. We are monitoring these recommendations daily, at this time we are still operational for all of your training and consultation needs.

  • Beginning today, IISC will be restricting class sizes to a maximum of 10 students. We promise to do our best to fulfill your needs, including adding more course dates/times as needed. If you are attending a course and start to feel symptoms you will be asked to leave the class and reschedule.
  • IISC's 67th Annual Professional Development Conference (April 22-24, 2020) has been cancelled. Award Applicants should watch their inbox for communications in the next couple of weeks regarding winner notifications and award distribution.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your registration, call us at 515-276-4724 and we’ll work with you.

We are using appropriate measures to keep public safety training and onsite trainings safe to attend. We ask for you to help us keep folks safe and healthy - if any of the following apply to you or an employee scheduled for a course, please contact us to reschedule for a future training.

If you have any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever
  • Sore Throat
  • Dry Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Body Aches
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea

Have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days
Have been to any of the following countries in the past 14 days:

  • China
  • South Korea
  • Iran
  • Italy

We are currently working on how to convert our training from in-person to web based courses. We have some capability, but it’s fairly limited, so at this time we are taking it as a case by case basis. Please call Christine at 515-276-4728 ext. 226 (christine@iisc.org) to inquire how to modify trainings or services if you are concerned about the pandemic.

Please also note that injuries increase when businesses experience staff reductions. Reducing safety trainings can put your company at risk.

Many folks have concerns, please rest assured that we are taking appropriate measures to keep you and your employees safe and healthy. As new information continues to come out, we will monitor and make updates to protocols as needed.

We also have a couple documents for additional safety information:

Thank you,
Your Iowa-Illinois Safety Council Team
