Aerial Lift Training (Mobile Elevated Working Platforms - MEWP)

This course will be taught online. After registering, additional information will be emailed to the attendee closer to the course date. 

VIDEO CONFERENCE FORMAT Required: broadband internet connection and a desktop or laptop computer with a microphone and camera.



Aerial lifts are versatile and, if operated by a trained and qualified person, safe to use. Like most equipment they make the job easier; however, many workers are injured or killed on aerial lifts each year while being caught between the guardrail and another object such as a steel beam or falling from the platform. And, workers on the ground have been struck and killed by a falling objects from aerial lifts. 

An aerial lift is any vehicle-mounted device used to elevate personnel, powered or manually operated and include:
  • Extendable boom platforms
  • Aerial ladders
  • Articulating (jointed) boom platforms
  • Vertical towers, and
  • Any combination of the above

This training will follow the requirements under OSHA’s general industry and construction standards, as well as ANSI requirements. Training elements include:
  • Site risk assessment to identify hazards, evaluate risk, develop control measures and communicate with affected persons;
  • Selection, provision and use of suitable MEWP’s;
  • Maintenance including inspection(s) and repairs; and documentation
  • And much more

Cancellation without penalty may be made up to five working days prior to the seminar date.  Cancellation after that date will be charged 50% of the fee.  You may avoid this charge by transferring your registration to another person.  Registrants who do not cancel are liable for the entire fee.  ALL REFUNDS WILL BE IN THE FORM OF A CREDIT VOUCHER.  This cancellation policy is standard with all Iowa-Illinois Safety Council sponsored programs.
