JSB USA from Marshalltown, Iowa Awarded Community Enrichment Award
The 2018 Community Enrichment Award was presented to JBS USA in Marshalltown, Iowa at the Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, April 12, 2019 during IISC's Professional Development Conference & Expo.

The EF-3 tornado that hit Marshalltown, Iowa, destroyed large parts of the community, and damaged the JBS USA pork facility and the homes of several of their 2,300 team members. GIVING BACK: In response, JBS invested $1 MILLION, including $400,000 to local charities and $600,000 in direct financial assistance to our team members, including payment for a lost day of work, and employee donations through the United Way. We also helped remove debris, repair homes, and hosted two community cookouts. HELPING THE JBS FAMILY: JBS implemented a Disaster Resource Center and created temporary housing for displaced employees. Nearly 4,000 community residents and volunteers were fed while nearly 20 combos/bins/vats of products, such as: diapers, water, non-perishable goods, clothes, cleaning and home supplies, etc were donated. Co-workers helped each other by washing displaced employees' clothes at their own homes and took displaced employees grocery shopping. Over $40,000 in Walmart and Hy-Vee gift cards were distributed, and JBS provided rental property deposits for displaced employees in the amount of $500 while providing home owners with a $1,000 deposit to go towards insurance deductibles and helping employees locate new rental properties and new means of transportation. Finally, JBS paid each employee eight (8) hours of regular pay due to lost work - nearly $275k and have awarded nearly $250k in additional financial support to displaced or impacted employees.

The awards committee had a tough decision to make as many IISC members made significant contributions to their communities throughout 2018. Congratulations to JBS USA!
